About Me

I was born in the middle of a blizzard in western North Dakota, and spent all my life around wheat, cattle, and oil. Despite what you think, ND is not flat, and I will always love it, and the lessons I learned from that land. Hunting and fishing were natural pasttimes, just like going to the beach or a ball game is for others. I'm very proud of where I'm from, and am not afraid to show it.

In 1997, I went to college in Grand Forks, ND to find my lot in life. Ever since HS I knew I wanted to edit. So, I tailored the TV Broadcasting and Journalism itineraries to suit my needs. After being in and out of school due to my obligations with the US Army Reserve (joined in 1999), I finally graduated with a BA in Communications in August of 2004.

My wife and I moved to Chicago that same summer, where I became an intern at Post Effects. What an experience. I learned so much from the fine staff there, from day to day operations, to how to install new Avid systems. The advice and knowledge they gave me has been invaluable, and I can never repay them for that. Thanks to all of you.

January of 2005 I left Post Effects to become the Assistant Editor at Mindsight in Schaumburg. Finally, I was able to start earning a living, and keep working on that goal to become an actual Editor. After about 7 months, I left Mindsight to do some freelance work, and then took a unique opportunity at HJE Marketing, a small marketing firm that wanted to add video to it's list of services. I was given the sole responsibility to transition their clients from a print frame of mind to a video mentality, and all the extra opportunities (and limitations) associated with it. I was Editor, Videographer, and Motion Graphic Artist, and loved the challenge of taking on all those roles to create new marketing and training materials. The company recently moved to Carlisle PA, to be housed with its parent company, and I am now working as Editor and Cameraman for Midwest Outdoors, a regional fishing and hunting show that airs every week.

I want to be an Editor, but to get there, you need to pay your dues. On my Reel, you can find a collection of things that I've had the pleasure of working on in my time in this industry. Whether it is logging footage, adding end tags and text graphics, manning a camera or audio mixer, or even the priviledge of actually putting some stuff together, I am doing my best to gain all the experience I can possibly get. I've been able to work with great companies such as Motorola, Bellevue Entertainment, High Yield Productions, Rocket Science Laboratories, WR Powers Advertising, Grainger, Town and Country Homes, Broaster, Carlisle Syntak, CareerBuilder.com, and others, and I look forward to working with many, many more.
